Unity Baptist has played an important role in Franklin Graham's children's evangelistic ministry, Operation Christmas Child, since 1995. The church has served as a Relay Center and now serves as a Collection Center. Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. This program of Samaritan's Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, handson missions project while focusing on the true meaning of ChristmasJesus Christ.
As a Collection Center, during National Collection Week which is the week before Thanksgiving each year, Unity Baptist Church collects some 30,000 shoe boxes. They come from ten Relay Centers that feed into the Unity Collection Center from Bremen, Bowdon, Forest Park, Greenville, Fayetteville, Griffin, McDonough, Douglasville, Carrollton, and Stockbridge. From the Collection Center, these boxes are placed in cartons, and sent to the Atlanta Processing Center. Seven Roadway trucks are used to transfer the boxes. From there, the boxes are sent around the world by ship containers and airplanes.
Unity Baptist is proud to play a part in making millions of children happy with the gifts and also receive the greatest gift of all - The Lord Jesus Christ.
